Emergency Dentist Lynnwood
What is an Emergency Dentist?
A dentist is a dentist. But an emergency dentist is a dentist that specializes or offers emergency care. This means that Dr. Worrell offers emergency dental care in Lynnwood after hours for patients. Imagine you encounter a problem on a weekend or in the middle of the night. Or perhaps, there is an accident during a holiday when all businesses are closed.
This is exactly the purpose of an emergency dentist. With general dentists, it may be difficult to schedule same-day appointments. Whereas, an emergency dentist can quickly diagnose and determine the gravity of the situation and treat you according to your emergency needs and in a prompt manner. There are just times when dental care is immediately needed, and in these times an emergency dentist is who you need to call.
According to the American Dental Association, if you experience severe tooth or gum pain, bleeding that won’t stop, or swelling that restricts your breathing, you should see your dentist or call 911 right away. The ADA also defines “urgent” dental care as necessary for issues that need immediate attention but aren’t life-threatening.
What is considered a dental emergency?
Dental emergencies are any incident involving your mouth that requires immediate medical attention. For example, the most common problems are severe pain or bleeding. Or, if a tooth has been knocked out or simply knocked loose, it is considered an emergency.
This also applies to severe infections that can lead to an abscess and cause considerable pain and swelling and possibly be life-threatening. When this occurs, you should immediately call emergency dentist Dr. Worrell at WeDental. Dr. Worrell will assure that your immediate issues do not turn into long-term problems.

“Having a toothache on any given day is terrible. When it hits you on a day where your insurance company and 90% of dentists are closed, you find yourself in one of the worst situations imaginable. Although We Dental was also closed, Dr. Worrell happened to be in the office and was able to help my significant other manage her pain until he could see her later this week.
Although we haven’t been back for any actual dental work yet, we’re already so thankful and confident in recommending this dentist to anybody. Dr. Worrell was very kind, compassionate, and accommodating and we couldn’t be more appreciative that he went out of his way to help us.”
Can you go to the emergency room for a dental emergency?
In general, finding an emergency room with a dentist in house or on call is very rare. But if the pain is so severe or if it feels like it is spreading along the jaw and neck, then, by all means, go to the ER.
Just keep in mind that there is not a lot of emergency room doctors can do besides providing antibiotics to help an infection and/or painkillers for some temporary pain relief. Remember dental issues won’t fix themselves. You will still need to make an appointment with a dentist.
Is a broken tooth considered a dental emergency?
Most cracks and chips are purely cosmetic and do not need urgent care. In this case, you can make an appointment with your dentist within the week. But If a tooth breaks, and you can see yellow dentin or red exposed pulp and it is accompanied by excruciating pain or bleeding, then it should be treated as an emergency. Call your emergency dentist in Lynnwood Wa immediately.
